To peel or not to peel: we found a natural exfoliator that loves sensitive skin

One of the secrets to keeping your skin glowing is to religiously exfoliate it. We put P.lab Beauty peel-off face mask to the test.

AHA, BHA, scrubs… there is nothing we wouldn’t try to get the glow. The reality though, is that not all peelings are made equal and not all types of skin like them.

Especially in the summer, with the sun shining over us, we have to be particularly careful to not scrape too much of our face off before we expose it to the rays.

Like any other dry-skinned person, I have tried my good dose of peels before finding one that gave my skin a little boost without being too aggressive – so when P.lab Beauty peel-off face mask landed on my desk I was more than happy to give it a try. But let’s start from the beginning.

What is an AHA acid?

AHA or Alpha hydroxy acids are, as said, acids produced by nature. Some of the most used ones are lactic acid from milk and glycolic acid from sugar cane but there are different types of AHA used in cosmetics.

These kinds of peels gently exfoliate the skin, getting rid of the dead cells, boosting the glow and helping dull complexions regain a healthier look. AHA acids are also a favourite if you are fighting hyperpigmentation, scars (like acne scarring) and the first signs of ageing.

Even if you are not a beauty junky, a delicate peel once a week is a little self-care act that can smooth the skin’s texture, tighten pores and help reduce fine lines.

So, how did P.lab Beauty peel-off face mask do?

P.lab Beauty’s peel-off face mask contains 99% of natural ingredients, including glycolic acid derived from sugar – to stimulate skin renewal, eliminate dead cells and stabilise the water in the epidermis – and fruit acids from lemons, bilberries and oranges to clarify the skin.

The texture is gel-like and really easy to apply onto the skin, it doesn’t sting and has a great smell which puts you in danger of forgetting you even have it on. I have personally left it way more than ten minutes almost every single time I have used it and my skin did not react badly at all. Once I washed it off, my skin was smoother and felt fresher, with no sign of redness or irritation whatsoever.

A great, affordable, product that comes in completely recycled and recyclable packaging. What’s not to love?
